FAQs for Senior Driver Education Course
The Mature Driver Improvement Course provides instruction on defensive driving and California motor vehicle laws. During this course, information is provided on, but not limited to, updates on rules of the road, the effects that medication, fatigue, alcohol, visual or auditory limitations have on a person's driving ability. . By taking a DMV licensed and approved California Mature Driver Improvement Course, you may qualify for reduced motor vehicle insurance premiums for 3 years (36 months). Please note: California law allows insurance companies to determine the percentage of premium reduction.
Once you complete the Mature Driver Improvement Course, you will get proof of passing/completion via email. Your hard copy course completion certificate will be sent out first class USPS the following day unless that falls on a Saturday/Sunday and or USPS Holiday. In those events, the course certificate is mailed out the next business day.
Your certificate will be delivered to the address you listed when registering for the course. Please be certain to provide your full and correct mailing address when registering for the course.
Once you have your hard copy certificate, provide it to your insurance company for vehicle insurance premium discount.
**Please Note: The insurance carrier can refuse to give a reduced rate to those who have poor driving records. You may wish to ask your insurance company about your eligibility and the amount of discount prior to taking an approved mature Driver Improvement Course.
